YSR : Remembering legendary leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy

YSR , also known as Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was an Indian politician and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

YSR was born on 8 July 1949. 
Died on September 2, 2009.

He served as the Chief Minister from 2004 until his death in 2009. YSR belonged to the Indian National Congress party and was known for his populist policies and welfare programs, particularly the flagship program called “Rajiv Aarogyasri,” which aimed to provide free healthcare to the poor in the state.

During his tenure, YSR implemented various initiatives such as the Indiramma housing scheme, which aimed to provide housing for the rural poor, and the Jalayagnam project, which focused on irrigation and water conservation. Free electricity for agriculture.

Tragic death of YSR

Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, died in a helicopter crash on September 2, 2009. He was traveling from Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, to Chittoor district. The helicopter carrying YSR went missing in the Nallamala forest area, and an extensive search operation was launched.

After an intense search, the wreckage of the helicopter was located on September 3, 2009, in the Rudrakonda Hill Range near the village of Pavuralagutta. Unfortunately, there were no survivors, and YSR, along with four other individuals on board, tragically lost their lives in the crash.

The exact cause of the helicopter crash was determined to be the result of adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain, fog, and strong winds. The inclement weather made it difficult for the helicopter to navigate, leading to the unfortunate accident. The news of YSR’s demise sent shockwaves throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh, and he was mourned by millions of people who admired him for his leadership and welfare initiatives.
